The Heuer Autavia Automatic Chronograph Passion Page for Autavia Collectors. No other Heuer model offers this large variation in style and design: more than 30 different types produced since 1970s. Starting with the cal 11 movement and having its high season with the cal 12 movement as seen in the Breitling and Hamilton watches of the same area. The huge and heavy Autavia case (only beaten up by the 48mm Breitling Navitimer 1806 type: www.breitling-navitimer.com) survived in design in the actual Tag Heuer Autavia collection. After the last production of so called pre-Tag Heuer Autavias in 1984 (my favourite case design).

The most important Autavia’s produced are on display here and still after so many years there is still space to add new types to this collection from time to time.

Finally found the last Automatic Autavia watch for my collection and homepage: the silver dial 15630 tachy. In the cal 15 section you see the tiny dial difference between the 15630 Tachy and the 1563: its the marker suroundings, which are orange in contrast to the 1563 model, which does has silver framed markers. Of course the bezel, housing and all other parts are different too.

The color of the Marker Lume is greenish with the 1563 Markers and solid white with the 15630.

Very Special version of the DIVER 100. This one has a decompression bezel like the AUTAVIA 11630 11630 P Decompression. Its the second watch I saw with this bezel and therefore its considered to be a proto or a very scarce alternatvie against the "Rolex-like " bezel insert.

NEWS on the HEUER GMT 1984

New Info on the wrong numbered 11063V GMT. Actually I was abel to achieve my second so called 11063 V GMT: last version from the 1984 series. As with my first model, the casing shows the stamp 11630 and NOT 11063 V. The numbers are deeply punched into the case: like we know from the 11063 V series. However the casing is different and look more like an ovesized 11630 case. I am pretty convinced that the real number must be 11630 as this number is in accordance with all literature from the 1983/1984/1985 catalogs.

I have seen this special case only at the GMT version from 1984: will post pictures later in June 2008.

HEUER AUTAVIA 1163 MH (Steel Hands)

There have been several "versions" of these early transition Autavia’s (transition from manual wind to automatics). Starting with the "Chronomatic" version (TOP line print on watch saying "Chronomatic HEUER" instead of "Autavia HEUER"); Afterwards the steel hand version with blue tip on the hour and minute hands came up and finally the full steel version shown here. As a very final fourth version one was produced with the well known Viceroy hands but not with Tachy bezel but with the here shown MH bezel (this version will be shown soon here). All this versions carry the scarce Caliber 11 movement. To my surprise the here presented MH steel hand has a bracelet (see bracelet section) with a claps similar to the early manual autavia models; but end links clearly fit as the auto version should be. This evidence was underlined by a Siffert Chronomatic Autavia sold recently on ebay with the same bracelet style.

The Diver 100 Autavia is believed to be produced at the very end of the transition from Heuer to TAG Heuer: a try by the company to mimic the Rolex Mercedes Benz Hand design plus the dot-wise luminous pigments of the dial rather than the old bar design. Also the design of the bezel insert has been picked up from Rolex and is very different from what we have seen before e.g. 11063 V. Due to the late arrival of this watch in their catalogue (only covered in the 1984 version and in a special dealers pamphlet) and the fact, that they used all remaining spare parts of Heuer to build up on their watches/design (mainly influenced by the Heuer 200 professional and related versions) it is believed, that the production number of this version is quite low. This does explain also why the model number of the Diver 100 is 11063 P but that non of the watch cases does show a "P" on the casing but the normal "V": so some remainder from the "normal" 11063 V version.

So far we know of 4 Heuer Autavia Diver 100 worldwide: one owned by Jeff Stein (USA), one by AMH (AT) and finally 2 in the here presented AUTAVIA collection. Since this is one of the scarcest AUTAVIA watches in the market, it’s considered to be named "ALPHA MALE AUTAVIA".
